Naples, seeking suppliers for the emerging Maiorino group of Bagnoli.

The hunt for the brokers and major drug suppliers fueling the drug market in the Phlegraean Fields is the new investigative front opened in the wake of the devastating blow to the Bagnoli "paranza." An overnight operation by the Carabinieri of the local Carabinieri Operations Unit led to the arrest of three young men with ambitions as top bosses and the filing of a woman's criminal record.

The handcuffs were snapped on Christian Maiorino (19), Publio Mazzi (20), and Carlo Paesano (21). Carabinieri officers raided an apartment on Via Plinio, which had been under surveillance for some time due to an unusual and constant flow of customers. Caught in the act of cutting and packaging the doses, the three reacted in a desperate attempt to escape arrest: they grabbed the bags of cocaine and tore them open, throwing the white powder into the air to make it untraceable.

The attack on the military

Adding to the heated situation was the intervention of the mother of one of the arrested men. She lunged at the Carabinieri, grabbing one officer by the neck to hinder their operations and help her son escape. Once calm was restored thanks to the rapid response of the unit, the officers searched the premises, seizing 220 grams of cocaine, 6 grams of marijuana, 7 homemade cigarettes "dipped" in the drug, and precision packaging materials.

The three young men were sent to prison, while the woman was charged with resisting arrest and assaulting a public official.

Tensions between the clans of the Phlegraean area

Christian Maiorino's profile weighs particularly heavily on the investigation: he is the brother of Mattia Maiorino, arrested last year along with leading members of the Troncone clan for extortion at New Year's Eve market stalls and currently under house arrest in Cassino.

The operation comes amidst a climate of extreme tension between Bagnoli, Soccavo, and Fuorigrotta, marked by raids and intimidation. This urban area is torn between the long-standing interference of the Esposito clan, the emerging pressure of the Maiorino clan, and internal divisions within the Troncone clan. Investigators are now focused on the top link in the chain: identifying who supplied the Via Plinio drug dealing hub with raw materials.
