Underground Naples: From wells to cave art and legends

A new edition of the series of guided tours into the heart of Naples takes shape through myths, artifacts, and live entertainment. The initiative, promoted by the Apsis Tour Napoli association, invites residents and the curious to discover a series of interconnected wells that once fed the city's palaces.

The starting point is Acquaguiglia del Pozzaro, located a few steps from the Fontanelle Cemetery, and the meeting point is set for Saturday, September 26th at 11:00 a.m., at the exit of the Materdei station on line 1.

The site, nestled in the yellow tuff of Naples and managed by Vincenzo Galiero, has been transformed into a small museum of local history. Here, visitors can admire the riggiole, mummarelle, and work tools found during the restoration, evidence of a past where water was life and work.

After the guided tour, participants will be immersed in the city's narrative repertoire: stories such as "munaciello," "bella 'mbriana," and "janare," complemented by nursery rhymes, tales, and traditional songs performed by professional artists. The entire tour lasts about an hour and a half.
