San Felice a Cancello: Pitbull attacks Yorkshire terrier; owner reported

Fear erupted yesterday morning in San Felice a Cancello, where a pit bull reportedly attacked a small Yorkshire terrier in the street, causing serious injuries. Following their investigation, the Carabinieri of the local station reported the owner of the dog believed to be involved in the incident.

The incident was reported to the Carabinieri today by a married couple. According to the complaint, the woman was on Via Roma with her Yorkshire terrier when the pitbull, owned by a local man, suddenly intervened and attacked the dog.

According to the reconstruction provided to the Carabinieri, the animal was found without a leash or muzzle and attacked the woman, managing to tear the small dog from her arms. The attack caused the Yorkshire terrier to sustain particularly serious injuries.

The owner immediately attempted to save her pet, transporting him to a veterinary clinic in Caserta. Despite treatment, the dog's condition became too serious: due to the injuries sustained, he had to be euthanized.

The woman, who was involved in the attack, also sought medical attention at the San Felice a Cancello hospital, where she underwent the necessary medical checks.

After receiving the complaint, the Carabinieri began an investigation to reconstruct the events and gather evidence to identify any culprits.

Following the investigation, the pitbull's owner was released and, according to the records, is under investigation for negligent assault and neglect of animals. The report has been forwarded to the judicial authorities for further investigation.

The case remains under judicial review. The proceedings are in the preliminary investigation phase, and therefore the presumption of innocence and all legal guarantees remain in effect.
