Emergency department: ASL Napoli 2 Nord is filling up with doctors: all twenty eligible candidates from the new competition have been hired.

In a national context marked by a chronic shortage of emergency medicine specialists and frequently deserted competitive exams, the Naples 2 North Local Health Authority (ASL) has seen a significant turnaround. The public selection process for a medical director in emergency medicine and surgery concluded with twenty successful candidates out of fifteen available positions.

The company has decided to hire the entire list of employees on permanent contracts, bringing fresh resources to the emergency rooms of its four designated locations: Frattamaggiore, Ischia, Giugliano, and Pozzuoli.

A young and national profile for the emergency

The new contingent is distinguished by a particularly low average age: all professionals are under 30, with an age range between 28 and 34. The female component is predominant, with twelve women out of twenty, while active interregional mobility has also been recorded, with the arrival of two doctors from Veneto and Tuscany.

In accordance with current legislation, the qualifications include specialists from equivalent and related disciplines, such as geriatrics and internal medicine, thus expanding the pool of skills available to critical care units.

The strategic management plan

"We're delighted that so many responded and that young doctors are once again focusing on emergency care," emphasizes Monica Vanni, general director of the ASL Napoli 2 Nord. "This ranking will allow us to fill staffing gaps and implement all the necessary countermeasures to provide an increasingly effective and timely response to our fellow citizens' healthcare needs."

The general director also highlights a lack of management continuity: "As proof of the fact that the ASL is investing in emergency medicine, for the first time in Campania, the head of an Emergency and Critical Care Department is an emergency specialist, director Fabio Giuliano Numis, and not a doctor from another specialty."

The relaunch of the Frattamaggiore garrison

The new medical and healthcare additions are part of a broader plan to strengthen the structure and organization of the San Giovanni di Dio hospital in Frattamaggiore, which also benefits from the appointment of a new head of the Emergency Department.

The recent redevelopment project has affected several strategic departments:
Cardiology and Critical Care Unit: Completely renovated, with the addition of a new room dedicated to electrophysiology and electrostimulation.

Radiology: Installation of a second state-of-the-art CT scan supported by artificial intelligence, to optimize diagnostic definition and reduce reporting times.

Specialties and beds: Reopening of the Orthopedics department, relaunch of Gastroenterology services, activation of the long-term care unit with intensive rehabilitation, and the imminent opening of the new Outpatient Clinic in the building opposite the hospital.
