Napoli, Anguissa stops again: low-grade adductor injury

Frank Zambo Anguissa has suffered another injury. The Napoli midfielder, who has been struggling with muscle problems for days, was sidelined again after the final minutes of the match at the Franchi stadium.

Today, the club announced that the Cameroonian "underwent instrumental tests today at Pineta Grande Hospital, which revealed a low-grade myofascial tear in the adductor longus of the right thigh." The statement added that "the Italian player has already begun his rehabilitation program." The club has not announced a return date.

The injury occurred late in the 1-1 draw between Fiorentina and Napoli. Massimiliano Allegri had sent him on for a few minutes after a period of individual training. Then he was sidelined again.

A 2026 already marked by muscles

This isn't an isolated incident. Anguissa missed the Arsenal and Bologna games due to an adductor strain. Before the trip to Florence, tests reassured both the club and the player, ruling out any injury. The discomfort, however, hadn't gone away. Against Fiorentina, the problem became a strain.

The midfielder's 2026 has been a bumpy one: few appearances, missing the World Cup, retiring from international football, and recurring muscle ailments. Allegri expects him to be a key midfielder, but the timing remains to be seen. Some estimates suggest two to three weeks, others three to four. Officially, for now, he's just starting his rehabilitation program.
