Shots fired overnight in Pomigliano d'Arco, hunt for gunman underway

A gunshot fired in the air raised the alarm late yesterday evening on Via Passariello, in Pomigliano d'Arco. Carabinieri officers from the Castello di Cisterna station responded to the scene, conducting investigations to reconstruct the incident.

According to an initial reconstruction, still being examined by investigators, a man riding a scooter with two other people fired a shot upwards and then walked away.

A rapid event, about which there is currently no definitive certainty. The military found no shell casings at the site of the explosion, and there were no injuries or damage to buildings, vehicles, or other structures.

Prank, warning or demonstrative gesture?

The investigation is now focusing precisely on the nature of the act. Among the hypotheses that will need to be verified is that of a prank, perhaps linked to a gesture of display and intimidation without a specific objective.

However, at this stage, the possibility that the shot may have been fired with a more specific meaning cannot be ruled out: a warning addressed to someone who lives or frequents the area, or a sort of demonstrative display, a gesture intended to demonstrate the presence or control of the territory.

At this time, these are merely investigative leads that will need to be confirmed. The lack of damage or injuries, as well as the failure to find the shell casing, does not yet allow a precise meaning to be attributed to the shot.

The hunt for camera images

A crucial contribution could come from the video surveillance cameras in the area. The Carabinieri are searching for images from both public systems and those installed at businesses, homes, and other private structures.

Investigators will try to reconstruct the scooter's route, verify the presence of the three people on board, and, above all, identify any evidence that could help identify the shooter.

The images could also help determine whether the group reached Via Passariello with a specific objective or whether the shooting occurred by chance during the crossing.

No injuries, but the alarm remains

Fortunately, at this time, the toll is without consequences for people or property. However, concern remains over an incident that has brought renewed attention to the safety of the area.
