Naples – It all stemmed from the name chosen for a Facebook group: "Circumvesuviana-Eav." According to the Ente Autonomo Volturno, that name "could have caused confusion among the company's customers." Hence the formal warning sent to the group's administrator, Salvatore Ferraro, president of the Vesuvian Commuters' Committee and founder of the Facebook page "No to Circumvesuviana Train Cuts."
The formal protest was signed by three representatives of the civic and commuter committees: Enzo Ciniglio, president of the Vesuvian Commuters' Committee and founder of the group "No to the Reduction of Circumvesuviana Trains"; Marcello Fabbrocini, of the Cifariello-Ottaviano civic committee; and Salvatore Alaia, president of the civic committee "E(a)vitiamolo Sperone."
The three signatories' response was swift, appearing in the same statement announcing the name change: "All it took was a simple conversation, and we would certainly have found an immediate and amicable solution." The tone was clear: the formal notice was interpreted as a disproportionate act, an attempt at intimidation rather than genuine customer protection.
To "avoid further legal ramifications and to maintain the continuity and integrity of the battles fought thus far," the group founded and managed by Salvatore Ferraro officially adopts the new name: "Comitato Pendolari Vesuviani" (Vesuvian Commuters Committee). This change of name, according to its promoters, does not mark a step backward, but rather a formal reorganization to continue the battle without legal distractions.
The statement concludes with a political dig that shifts the focus from the group's name to the substance of the dispute: "We will all continue to give voice and strength to the legitimate demands of commuters: because perhaps it is right to avoid confusion, but it is certainly extremely serious not to guarantee rights."
A sentence that shifts the focus of the conflict: no longer over the name of a Facebook group, but over the quality of service, the cuts to trains, the daily inconveniences of those who take the Circumvesuviana every day to go to work, study, or seek medical care.
