Cisterna Castle: She forgave him, but he continued to beat her: arrested

Castello di Cisterna – It seems like déjà vu, a tragic story repeating itself exactly one year later, with the same protagonists, the same walls, and the same ferocity. In January 2025, the Carabinieri had already crossed the threshold of that apartment in Castello di Cisterna to arrest a violent man. A little over twelve months later, the news reports a dramatically identical epilogue.

The intervention and the dramatic discovery

The emergency number was raised when the situation at home deteriorated again. Carabinieri officers from the Castello di Cisterna station, who quickly arrived on the scene, found a distressing scene: the 42-year-old woman was still lying on the floor, visibly distressed and injured. A short distance away, her 48-year-old husband was in a state of severe distress, having violently attacked her with kicks and punches. This all happened before the terrified eyes of the couple's two children, aged just 10 and 15.

The illusion of forgiveness and recidivism

A brutal attack that erases any hope of rehabilitation. In January of last year, the man—then 45 years old—was arrested and charged with the same mistreatment and assault, again after a beating unleashed by petty jealousy. His wife later chose to welcome him back into their home and forgive him, in an effort to protect the family unit and their children's future. An act of love and sacrifice, to which the 48-year-old responded with continued insults, threats, and, finally, a new violent attack.

Returning to prison

The Carabinieri immediately subdued and disarmed the attacker, putting an end to the cycle of violence before the worst could happen. The 48-year-old was reinstated in the prison, where he is now being held in custody at the disposal of the judicial authorities. The woman and the minors were taken into custody for physical care and necessary psychological support.
