Giugliano, the New Madrearte Theater opens: classics, comedy, and new writing.

The New Madrearte Theater is born in Giugliano in Campania. On Via Mario Pirozzi, the first season of this space opens, entrusting the stage with an age-old mission: to build emotions, bring stories to life, and, through education, contribute to personal development. The artistic direction is by Antonio Diana. The 2026/2027 program brings together tradition and modernity, comedy and the spoken word, literary memory and scenic invention.

"The theater isn't just a place where a show is performed, but a home where audiences can rediscover themselves through the stories of others," says Diana. "With this season, we wanted to bring together different languages, great texts, and new interpretations, without sacrificing the popular dimension and education, because theater continues to be one of the most authentic ways a community grows and recognizes itself."

From Petito to Molière, the poster

The opening is Sunday, October 25th, with Francesca da Rimini, based on Antonio Petito's play, adapted by Ciro Scherma. On November 7th and 8th, Peppe Laurato and Salvatore Gisonna present 48 Hours, directed by Angelo Belgiovine. On November 15th, it's Molière's turn: The Miser, starring Mario Autore, Franco Nappi, and Chiara Vitiello.

From December 4th to 6th, Diana performs Personaggi, a play dedicated to ventriloquism. From December 11th to 13th, Madrearte and Teatrogene present The Mystery of Rospacennere, through Cinderella, directed by Angela Panico and Antonio Diana. On December 20th, Marco Lanzuise and Salvatore Turco star in The Mast, Wanted: Worker Wanted, directed by Lanzuise.

2027: Plautus, Leopardi and the closure

The new year opens on January 3rd with Molière's Le preziose ridicole, o La prova di furfantino, adapted and directed by Giovanni Meola. On January 24th comes Casina, based on Plautus, adapted and directed by Rodolfo Fornario. On February 28th, Fulvio Renzi's Il nome di Donnarosa. On March 14th, Ottosognante presents All'apparir del vero, Leopardi's last song, by Antonio Piccolo. The season closes, from March 18th to 21st, with Scherzi da preti, written and directed by Diana.

Out of season ticket and school

Alongside the season-long program, there are special events: theater, family shows, comedy, magic, music, and the Open Stage. The other heart of the space is education. The Madrearte Theatre School offers courses in theater and film acting, screenwriting, open days, and taster lessons. The idea, writes the management, is that where emotions are built, people can also be formed.
