Two tumors were removed in a single procedure at the Moscati Hospital in Avellino. A 74-year-old man, resident of Naples, underwent the operation and was discharged after seven days of hospitalization in good condition.
The surgery was performed by the hospital's multidisciplinary oncology team, coordinated by oncologist Andrea Muto, with the support of the Urology team led by Vittorio Imperatore. During the same surgical session, the bladder, a kidney, and the ureter were removed.
The team used a robot-assisted technique, removing the affected organs and tissues en masse, rather than proceeding with the removal of individual parts. "This way, we reduced the risk of dispersing cancer cells and ensured maximum oncological sterility," explained Imperatore.
