HPV vaccine open days begin in October: free admission for those born in 2011 and 2012.

In October 2026, the ASL Napoli 1 Centro will organize a series of free open days dedicated to the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination. These open days are open to all eligible individuals, with priority given to those born in 2011 and 2012. The initiative provides free access, with no need for reservations, to the vaccination centers in the Basic Health Districts, according to the schedule published by the health authority.

Why get vaccinated against HPV

HPV vaccination is indicated as a fundamental, safe, and effective prevention tool against human papillomavirus infections and related cancers. The vaccine protects not only against cervical cancer, but also against some neoplasms of the oropharynx and genital tract, both in women and men.
According to the World Health Organization, mass vaccination during adolescence is essential to eliminate cervical cancer as a public health problem.

Vaccinating girls and boys before the onset of sexual activity provides long-lasting protection and contributes to herd immunity.

Safety, effectiveness and free of charge

The HPV vaccine is approved by European and Italian regulatory authorities (EMA and AIFA) and has a high efficacy and safety profile. As part of the National Vaccination Prevention Plan, vaccination is offered free of charge to the identified target cohorts, including those born in 2011 and 2012, for whom access to open days is completely free.

The ASL campaign: "Protect the future"

The initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen HPV vaccination coverage promoted by ASL Napoli 1 Centro, in line with the regional plan and the Company Implementation Plan. "HPV vaccination protects the future – Prevention is our strength": this is the message chosen by the health authority to accompany its communications campaign and open days in October.
