Naples, Saturday, a rally against violence in Piazza Vanvitelli: "Let's take back our city."

Reclaiming the streets and squares, without fear, and defending the right of young people to live freely in their city. This is the goal of the "Let's Take Back Our City" demonstration, promoted by the Network for the Safety of Minors and Adolescents and scheduled for Saturday, October 17th, at 4:00 PM in Piazza Vanvitelli, Naples.

The demonstration comes after the serious incidents of violence recorded last weekend and is intended to express solidarity with the attacked father, but above all to shed light on a problem that affects the entire community.

"We cannot and must not get used to violence, nor accept that fear affects the daily lives of families and the freedom of our children. Streets and squares must continue to be places of encounter, socialization, and sharing, not spaces to be avoided or lived in fear," said Nelide Milano and Barbara Tafuri, spokespersons for the Network.

The initiative aims to overcome political divisions and demand concrete commitment from the relevant institutions. "Security has no political color and cannot become a battleground or a source of exploitation. We are not protesting against anyone, but to affirm a right that belongs to everyone," the promoters emphasize.

The demand is for shared responses and interventions capable of complementing the daily work of law enforcement. The Network is calling for adequate local governance, increased prevention efforts, and more incisive attention to the spaces frequented by young people.

The demonstration will also be an opportunity to gather concrete proposals to present to the institutions, with the aim of transforming the protest into an operational contribution to improving urban safety.

The call for participation is addressed to citizens, parents, young people, associations, civic groups, and institutional representatives, without political distinctions or affiliations.

"We ask the city to be there. Because security is not a battle for the few, but a collective responsibility," is the message from the Network, which invites Naples to react and demonstrate that it does not want to accept violence as part of everyday life.
