Villarreal-Napoli, Allegri thunders: "We can't concede goals like this."

Massimiliano Allegri offered Napoli no mercy after their 3-1 defeat at Villarreal. The Spaniards' comeback, accomplished in just a few minutes after Rrahmani's early lead, left the Italian coach with more than a few reasons for concern, particularly for the errors committed in their own half and the team's lack of balance.

"In the Champions League, you have to make as few mistakes as possible. At 1-1, there were four short, pointless passes in our half. In Europe, you have to play differently. We got confused and immediately conceded a 2-1 lead," Allegri told Sky Sport after the match.

The reference is to the middle of the first half, when Napoli, after taking the lead in the 8th minute through Rrahmani, conceded a 23rd-minute equalizer through Mikautadze following a misplaced back pass from Politano. Three minutes later, Mouriño completed the lead with a long-range effort.

For Allegri, the problem isn't just the single incident, but the team's ability to manage the game's crucial moments. "In the second half, we stretched ourselves. Like against Frosinone, we didn't find any more goals due to poor decision-making. You can lose, but not like this," the coach added.

The coach then drew attention to the need for greater patience in moving the ball, also explaining an episode linked to the tactical instructions given during the match.

"We need to be more patient with the ball. At one point, I asked De Bruyne to move between the two in midfield, and we didn't understand each other," he said.

Despite the criticism, Allegri acknowledged the work done by the defenders, but highlighted an overall fragility that has accompanied the team since the start of the season.

"It's almost become a shame to know how to defend. Our defenders did well tonight, but we conceded a lot of shots from outside the box. We've been conceding too much since the start of the season; we need to find better balance. We have the quality to score," he concluded.

The coach's message is clear: Napoli must quickly correct their lapses and regain consistency. After their second consecutive European defeat, the challenge is to turn the criticism into an on-field response, starting with their next Champions League match against Bodø/Glimt.
