The Carabinieri of the Operational Unit of the Marcianise Company (CE), together with those of the Carabinieri Anti-Counterfeiting Unit, in Orta di Atella (CE), during a service aimed at countering the spread of counterfeit banknotes, have located an active production center in the suburbs.
Following the check and subsequent search, carried out inside an apartment in via Masseria del Barone, the military personnel of the Arma surprised two people, busy with the production and printing of banknotes, finding, in the circumstance, a laptop computer, a laser printer, a thermal cutter, a thermal laminator, numerous holograms of Chinese manufacture and 177 A4 sheets used as printing tests for banknotes of denominations of 5, 20, 50 and 500 euros, in addition to 274 counterfeit banknotes of the same denomination for a total nominal sum of approximately 90.000,00 euros. The arrested, a local man and woman, cohabiting and resident in Orta di Atella, were placed under house arrest, at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority. The counterfeit banknotes and all the material found were seized.
