"We must never lower our guard against the ever-present danger of Nazi-fascist resurgences. Therefore, we strongly request that the tomb of war criminal Michael Seifert, located in the cemetery of Santa Maria Capua Vetere and for a long time the destination of periodic homages by nostalgics, be moved elsewhere and be anonymous". This is stated by the president of the Caserta section of the Anpi - National Association of Italian Partisans - Agostino Morgillo, who a few days ago, together with the president of the Anpi Alto Adige Sudtirol Guido Margheri, addressed a letter to the mayors of Santa Maria Capua Vetere Antonio Mirra and Bolzano Renzo Caramaschi, so that the criminal known as the "executioner of Bolzano", be "buried anonymously". Seifert died in 2010 in the military prison of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, where he arrived in 2008 after being extradited to Italy from Canada following a life sentence in 2000 by the Verona Tribunal. “With the death of almost all the partisans,” Morgillo warns, “the real risk is that memory will fade.”
