“The agreement between the multinational BAT and the Ministry of Agriculture regarding the purchase of Italian tobacco is good news in times of crisis,” was the first comment by Alessandro Mastrocinque, President of CIA Campania, on the agreement announced by
British American Tobacco Italia, Bat, which plans to purchase 7000 tons of green leaf tobacco for the year 2020.
“BAT’s commitment to continue purchasing Italian tobacco – continues Mastrocinque – is going in the right direction and provides a minimum of serenity to the many farmers who continue to produce quality tobacco in Campania. It is a result also thanks to the commitment of Minister Teresa Bellanova, to whom we extend our thanks”.
Campania, with more than 1300 producers and 3500 hectares of land, remains among the main regions for tobacco production.
