
È Monica Sannino (Bambi) from Naples won the Bianca d'Aponte Award, while Simona Boo from Termoli won the critics' award "Fausto Mesolella”. The final of the 16th edition of the only Italian contest reserved for female singer-songwriters took place on 14 and 15 July in Aversa, it was initially scheduled for October 2020 and then postponed due to the health emergency.
The mention for best text went to Lucrezia from Bologna, that for best music to Elena Romano from Florence and the best interpretation to Lamante from Piovene Rocchette (Vicenza).
Godmother of this edition was Arisa, who on the final evening performed “Cantico dei matti” by Bianca d'Aponte (the singer-songwriter to whom the event is dedicated), along with some of her songs. She also had the task of presiding over the jury.
The two evenings, which were hosted in the outdoor spaces of the Enrico Fermi Scientific High School, were opened by Cristiana Verardo, winner of the 2019 edition of the competition.
The Nuova Compagnia di Canto Popolare also performed on the first night, receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award from the City of Aversa. Surprisingly, during the group's set, Fausta Vetere called Patrizio Trampetti, who was in the audience and a long-time member of the NCCP, on stage for an improvised duet.
On the same evening there was also space for Giuseppe Anastasi, Bungaro and Alfina Scorza, while on July 15th, in addition to Arisa, A'67, Patrizia Laquidara and Têtes de Bois also appeared on stage as guests.
The two evenings were hosted by Charlotte Scarlet e Octavio Nieddu, while the artistic direction was by Ferruccio Spinetti.
Rai Radio 1, the event's official media partner, streamed the final on its Facebook channel, while both evenings were broadcast on the Award's page.
Many prizes. The overall winner Monica Sannino will receive a scholarship of € 1.000, participation as a guest in the next edition of the Award, three presentation concerts produced by Doc Live and the opportunity to participate in the Premio dei Premi del Mei di Faenza. The contest will also entitle her to a contribution of € 10.000 for a six-date tour for the winning artist (or, in the absence of the required requirements, for one of the other finalists), a contribution that will be recognized by Nuovo Imaie pursuant to the regulation and the announcement art. 7 L. 93/92, audio sector Awards and Competitions year 2020.
There are several recognitions from bodies and associations external to the organization.
Lucrezia gets the one from Mariella Nava's Suoni dall'Italia label, with the proposal of a possible artistic collaboration. Elena Romano gets the one from Alessandro Guasconi's Virus Studio, “Premio 'Na stella” (title of a song by Mesolella), with the recording of a song with the artistic production of Ferruccio Spinetti.
In addition to the “Fausto Mesolella” Critics' Award with a scholarship of €800, Simona Boo will also receive the award from Veronica Marchi's female label “Maieutica Dischi” (winner of the first edition of the Award) for the production and publication of a song, and the award from Soundinside Basement Records, with the creation of a live video in the studio.
Manuela Zero from Piano di Sorrento will receive a proposal for one year of legal and managerial assistance for the winning artist or other finalist from Siedas.
Also in the race were Ebbanesis from Naples, Sarah Romano from Monreale, Veronica from Aversa, Chiara White from Florence.
The jury, like every year, was made up of established singer-songwriters, authors, composers, journalists in the sector, professionals and cultural operators, divided into two juries: one for the absolute prize and one for the critics' prize, named after Fausto Mesolella, historic artistic director of the event.
The first group included Giuseppe Anastasi (singer-songwriter), Arisa (singer-songwriter), Giuseppe Barbera (musician and composer), Mimì Ciaramella (musician and composer), Sergio Delle Cese (Antenna Music Factory booking), Piero Fabrizi (producer), Angelo Franchi (AF47 Music), Elena Ledda (singer-songwriter), Mariella Nava (singer-songwriter), Patrizia Laquidara (singer-songwriter), Alberto Quartana (Leave Music), Daniele Sanzone (singer-songwriter), Andrea Satta (singer-songwriter), Roberto Trinci (Sony/ATV Music Publishing).
For the “Fausto Mesolella” Award, the following will be on the jury: Roberta Balzotti (Tgr RAI), Mauro De Cillis (Rai Isoradio), Giuliano Delli Paoli (Ondarock), Ciro De Rosa (Blogfoolk), Max De Tomassi (Rai Radio1), Cecilia Donadio (Tgr Campania), Angela Garofalo (Chronicles of Caserta and Naples), Elisabetta Malantrucco (Rai Radio Techete'), Duccio Pasqua (Rai Radio1), Leonardo Pascucci (The Island That Wasn't There), Timisoara Pinto (Gr1), Fausto Pellegrini (Rainews 24), Ivan Rufo (Botteghe d'Autore Festival), Paolo Talanca (Fatto quotidiano).
During the evenings, the compilation of the 16th edition of the Award was available, which the public could receive in exchange for a donation to Emergency, to which all proceeds will be donated.
