AcerraIt was November 18, 2020 when 32-year-old Mario Aniello Tufano was shot and hit in the hand in Acerra for trivial reasons.
After a long time in which the attacker had remained unpunished and at liberty, despite the complaints and as Mario himself had told the Regional Councilor of Europa Verde Francesco Emilio Borrelli and Radiazza, now the PM has requested a 12-year prison sentence for the attacker.
“I really hope that the law continues to work and that criminals pay even if during the first hearing the sentence was already reduced to 8 years.” - explains Mario.
Why was he shot? To reconstruct the story:
“It was November 18, 2020, around 18 pm, when I was about to enter Sirena Park in my car where my home in Acerra is located. Suddenly a scooter cuts me off. There is a boy of about 15 on board and two even younger ones behind. Having been frightened by the situation, I scold the three boys but the older one starts to rage at me, threatening to call his older brother into action. The argument ends, I park the car, go home and after a while I go back down to the park where I notice agitation and an argument.
I approach a group of kids who were talking about what had happened to me earlier, I ask to speak to the brother of the boy who had cut me off to clarify the situation. The boy's brother arrives in a car and we talk, the discussion seems to have ended and reached a resolution when a second brother of the 15-year-old arrives on a scooter who takes out a gun and shoots at me hitting me in the hand.
I go to the hospital where I am treated and then I file a complaint. My attacker does not show up for 15-20 days, then once the waters have calmed down he returns to the house and is still at large and I continue to receive threats. Despite my complaints, the matter has run aground. It is not fair. What does he expect, that they kill me first?” - the victim had said last February.
“Certain and harsh sentences, that’s what we ask for and who we expect and that’s what people, fed up with abuse and violence, rightly demand. We need to change the direction our society has taken where violence is taking over.”- the words of Councilor Borrelli and those of radio host Gianni Simioli.
