The epidemic curve in Italy is still rising. There are 32.573 new Covid cases, compared to 60.415 yesterday (but like every Monday the data is distorted by the few swabs after the weekend) and above all the 28.900 of last Monday: a weekly increase of 13%, slowing down compared to last week when the daily growth exceeded 40%.
It will take a few days to understand if the curve of this March wave is really bending. The swabs processed are 218.216 (yesterday 370.466), with a positivity rate that drops from 16,3% to 14,9%. The deaths are 119 (yesterday 93). The total victims since the beginning of the pandemic are 157.904.
Intensive care is 4 less, as yesterday, with 31 admissions for the day, and is down to 463, while ordinary hospitalizations are increasing sharply, 298 more (yesterday +111), as expected now two weeks after the start of the rise in infections, and are 8.728 in total. This is what emerges from the daily bulletin of the Ministry of Health.
The region with the highest number of cases today is Lazio with 4.405 infections, followed by Campania (+3.500), Puglia (+3.020), Sicily (+2.798) and Lombardy (+2.544). The total cases reach 13.895.188. The discharged/recovered in the last 24 hours are 30.870 (yesterday 36.166) for a total that rises to 12.562.004. The currently positive cases are still increasing, 2.456 more (yesterday +25.305), and they rise to 1.175.280. Of these 1.166.089 patients are in home isolation.
