Hope: “In the past, the rigorous application of the sanitary measures of the program for the eradication of brucellosis and buffalo tuberculosis, in the territories of Avellino, Benevento and Naples, has allowed us to achieve the status of 'provinces free of bovine and buffalo brucellosis', established by the European Commission with decision 385 of 2021. While, in the province of Caserta alone, we still have to concentrate our efforts to combat the epidemic”.
The Minister of Health, Roberto, announced it Hope, responding to the question of the deputy Carlo Sarro of Forza Italia, on the epidemic emergency underway in the cattle and buffalo farms of the province of Caserta.
“In order to evaluate every initiative useful for overcoming the current epidemic situation, in particular in the province of Caserta – Speranza recalled – during the preparatory work of the new Regional Plan, institutional meetings were called in the presence of trade associations.
The new Plan, in agreement with the European Commission, also provides for the vaccination of all buffalo heads aged between 6 and 9 months, after the slaughter of infected animals, against brucellosis in the cluster municipalities of Cancello, Arnone, Castevolturno, Grazzanise and Santa Maria where 84% of the brucellosis outbreaks that have occurred in the last 6 years in the Region are concentrated. Vaccination may also be carried out in some municipalities bordering the cluster territory”.
