Torre del Greco, a prosthesis for Vincenzo, the young engineer who dreams of the Paralympics

Torre del Greco . Vincenzo Garofalo, a young naval engineer from Torre del Greco, has launched a GoFundMe campaign to purchase a special prosthetic leg to help him realize his dreams after a terrible accident.

“On December 5, 2021,” he says, “my life was turned upside down by a tragic road accident that caused the loss of my right leg, in Malta.”

“The rehabilitation, still ongoing – Vincenzo writes – required six months in the hospital and continuous physiotherapy. Today I am once again taking control of my life, but with considerable difficulty and insufficient means”.

“To be able to do this fully – he continues – I need cutting-edge prostheses to start walking again, play sports and return to a normal life, without the fear of not being able to do something because I don't have the right one”.

“The cost of these devices,” he explains, “amounts to tens of thousands of euros, which unfortunately my family and I do not have, and they are not provided by the national health system.”

“I dream of participating in the Paralympics, of reaching the Everest base camp, of walking the Camino de Santiago and I don't want – he concludes – that this be denied to me for a purely economic problem”.
