Migrants, Ocean Viking in Salerno, Sos Mediteranee: they have all disembarked. Governor De Luca had asked for a stop due to a Covid outbreak.
“The rescue operations of the 387 women, men and children rescued by the crew of Ocean Viking between 24 and 25 July have finally ended. They all disembarked today in the port of Salerno”.
The NGO SOS Mediteranee reported this on Twitter.
The OceanViking ship docked in the port of Salerno this morning and the president of the Campania Region, Vincenzo De Luca, had openly sided with a halt to disembarkation operations in light of the too many positive cases of Covid found on board. Despite the governor's stance, disembarkation procedures continued for all 387 migrants rescued by the OceanViking.
“We wish them to receive the medical care and assistance they deserve,” points out Sos Mediteranee.
