A 45-year-old man was reported while he was busy dumping a large quantity of bituminous sheathing over an area of approximately 10 square metres in via Vesuvio in Herculaneum.
Municipal Police officers from the Judicial Police Unit, led by Commander Nicola Vanacore, surprised the man, a resident of Portici, while he was dumping hazardous waste and reported him for environmental crimes, dumping, transportation of hazardous waste and abandonment.
"Whoever abandons waste is a criminal, who must be punished. The protection and defense of the environment is a challenge that we can only win together" says Ciro Buonajuto, mayor of Ercolano, regional secretary of Italia Viva and national vice president of Anci.
"Every day we do our part to keep the bar of legality high. Vesuvius is everyone's heritage and must be preserved, defended and protected by everyone. The checks carried out by the Local Police, whom I thank, go in this direction", he concludes.
