Sma Campania, rigged tenders: 9 arrests. There is also a former regional councilor

The Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Naples executed a precautionary measure order and a precautionary seizure order issued by the GIP of the Court of Naples, at the request of the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office – Second Section, against nine people.

All considered seriously suspected, to varying degrees, of the crimes of corruption, undue inducement to give or promise benefits, disturbed freedom of auctions and of the procedure for choosing the contractor in public contracts, illicit financing of political parties.

The corruption incidents allegedly occurred in order to rig tenders both at the SMA Campania, in-house company of the Campania Region, which at the Municipality of Naples.
Furthermore, during the investigations, a hypothesis of illicit payment of sums of money for the electoral campaign of a Regional Councilor, candidate in the 2018 political elections for the renewal of the members of the Chamber of Deputies, also emerged.

For the facts described above, the following measures have been adopted:
pre-trial detention in prison for three people; house arrest for two people;
obligation to report to the police station for a person; obligation to remain in residence for a person;
temporary ban on carrying out business activities for two people; preventive seizure, also for equivalent, of the sum of approximately 700.000 euros.
