They defrauded an 81-year-old woman from Rome, managing to get her to hand over valuable jewelry, and then fled towards Campania, but were stopped by the Highway Police on the Caserta section of the A1, discovered, arrested, and sent to prison.
Two men living in the province of Naples ended up in handcuffs, who had been in the capital a few hours earlier to defraud an 81-year-old woman with a well-tested stratagem in episodes of defrauding the elderly. One of the two - the police officers of the PoliziaStradele Subsection of Caserta North – called the old woman telling her that he was with the woman's son, who he feared could be arrested and that for this reason he needed money or valuables; the accomplice then introduced himself to the woman and made her hand over the jewels.
The 81-year-old then recognized the scammer in a photo who showed up at his house. The two were stopped in their car on the A1 in the municipality of Casagiove, and the police found the jewels in a white bag placed between the bags of crisps. Since the beginning of the year, several arrests of scammers traveling to the center or north have been made on the highway by the CASERTA Highway Police led by Ludovico Mitilini
