To escape the controls of the Colombian police in Medellín, Luigi Belvedere, the Camorrista linked to the clan of Casale, wanted since 2020 for international drug trafficking and recently arrested, had rented several luxury apartments, each for more than $2.500 a week.
At least four were identified in a month, which he used randomly to evade investigations. The details were made public by Colombian authorities, who made the arrest as part of Operation Caronte, in collaboration with the Italian police, Europol, Dcsa, and the Service for International Police Cooperation.
According to the investigators, Belvedere He was the main link between Colombian drug traffickers and the Camorra, managing the logistics for sending large quantities of cocaine to Spain, Germany, Holland and Italy.
Its well-organized network allowed the drugs to be prepared and stored on ships bound for European ports, from where they were distributed to key cities such as Napoli and Caserta.
His “success” came from a network of highly specialized collaborators under his strict control. For General William Salamanca, director general of the Colombian police, this operation “is the result of effective collaboration and exchange of information between the Colombian police and international agencies, demonstrating the determination in the fight against drug trafficking.”
This arrest is the second in a week in Medellín, after the capture of Gustavo Nocella.
