Altavilla Irpina – Andrea Vetrone, a 27-year-old originally from Altavilla Irpina, turned himself in today at the Carabinieri barracks in Benevento. Altavilla Irpina, investigated for attempted murder.
The young man had been missing since May 4, the night he allegedly fired a gunshot in the back of a 20-year-old, the brother of his girlfriend, at the height of an argument that broke out inside a bar in the town.
The victim, rushed to the hospital, had been admitted with a reserved prognosis but was never in danger of life. His conditions progressively improved in the following days.
The investigation, conducted by the Carabinieri and coordinated by the Avellino Prosecutor's Office, led to the issuance of a precautionary custody order against Vetrone. During the subsequent search of his home, investigators found illegally held ammunition, now seized.
After nearly three weeks on the run, the 27-year-old finally decided to turn himself in to law enforcement, ending his time on the run.
