Capua– A Moldovan caregiver was arrested by the Carabinieri on charges of manslaughter for the death of a 70-year-old non-self-sufficient woman from Pastorano, who died on May 21 in her home where the woman worked as a family assistant.
The order was issued by the Public Prosecutor's Office Santa Maria Capua Vetere after the victim's family reported suspicious circumstances surrounding the death, initially attributed to natural causes.
The dynamics of the fact
According to the investigations conducted by the Carabinieri of the Vitulazio Station and the Capua Operational Section:
The elderly woman allegedly fell accidentally, suffering a head injury;
The carer, who had no professional qualifications, did not request medical intervention, considering it unnecessary;
The delay in rescue operations may have contributed to the woman's death.
The capture at Sparanise station
The suspect, a Moldovan citizen, was tracked down while waiting for a train at the Sparanise station, probably about to leave the province. This morning she was subjected to preliminary interrogation before the GIP of the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, who validated the arrest by applying the precautionary measure of the obligation to report daily to the authorities.
The victim's family, who had immediately doubted the version of "natural" death, filed a complaint and began an investigation. Now investigators are checking whether the caregiver had other responsibilities in managing the elderly woman's conditions.
