Grant Dalton, CEO of Emirates Team New Zealand, made no secret of his enthusiasm for Naples and its connection to sport, particularly after the local football team's recent championship victory.
Speaking during the presentation of the 38th America’s Cup, which will be played in the Gulf of Naples in the spring of 2027, Dalton congratulated the Neapolitan fans for their extraordinary support for the team: “We’ve seen fantastic images on TV, the bus tour two days ago… The people of Naples and the support we’ve seen for the team are incredible, I’ve never seen anything like it in my life.”
The number one of Emirates Team New Zealand then recalled the visits made to Naples in search of the ideal venue for the competition: “We’ve been to Naples probably four times in the last four months, quite discreetly. I remember the 2012 and 2013 regattas, not so much for the races themselves, but for the people, it was extraordinary.”
