Naples – She attempted to kill her partner, or rather her ex, and then, believing she had killed her, she committed suicide. The one who pulled the trigger was Ilaria Capezzuto, 34, originally from the Spanish Quarters with a small criminal record.
He opened fire on his partner Daniela Strazzullo, 31, hitting her in the head with the intent to kill her, before turning the same 9mm pistol, which he had illegally in possession, on himself. The woman took her own life with a shot to the temple.
The tragedy occurred on board a Renault Captur, parked in a peripheral area between Ponticelli and Volla. When the carabinieri intervened, alerted by a call to 112, they found themselves in front of a terrifying scene: Strazzullo was still alive, seriously injured in the head, sitting at the wheel of the car.
A few meters away, already in the territory of the municipality of Naples, Capezzuto lay lifeless, with the murder weapon next to him.
Initial investigations have ruled out the possibility of an ambush or Camorra involvement, quickly revealing a clear picture: an extreme gesture, which matured within the romantic relationship between the two women. According to investigators, the motive is personal and passionate.
Daniela Strazzullo, currently hospitalized in critical conditions at the Ospedale del Mare, is the daughter of Errico Strazzullo known as “Peperone” the boss of the “Torretta” area. In the past she was involved in a news story: in the summer of 2022 she was reported for having attacked police officers who were preventing her from selling drinks illegally on a city beach.
Ilaria Capezzuto leaves behind a minor daughter
Ilaria Capezzuto was also already known to the police for some minor criminal records. The gun used in the crime-suicide was illegal and will now be subjected to ballistic tests, as will the car that was the scene of the shooting.
An autopsy has been ordered on the body of the 34-year-old, while investigations continue by the Carabinieri of the Torre del Greco Company and the Investigative Unit of Torre Annunziata, under the coordination of the prosecutors of Nola (for the attempted murder) and Naples (for the suicide).
Ilaria Capezzuto leaves behind a minor daughter. A detail that makes the epilogue of a story marked by desperation, violence and emotional abandonment even more dramatic.
