NAPLES – A night of celebrations but also of tight controls in the city, where the State Police carried out four arrests and one detention as part of the extraordinary measure set up by the Police Headquarters to guarantee public order and safety during the celebrations for the Scudetto. Napoli.
In the heart of the nightlife, in via Vicaria Vecchia, the Falcons of the Flying Squad noticed a young man on a scooter who, at the sight of the officers, tried to escape by reversing. Stopped shortly after, he was found in possession of a Browning 7.65 caliber semi-automatic pistol with five cartridges, one of which was already in the chamber. The boy, a 21-year-old from Naples, was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm.
Also during the night, in via Ludovico Bianchini, at the corner with piazza Mercato, the Flying Squad intercepted three young people on a scooter, two of whom had their faces covered. At the officers' stop, they responded by speeding up.
During the chase, one of the passengers got out of the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but, after a brief struggle, he was stopped: he was carrying a modified replica pistol without the red cap.
The man, 18 years old, was arrested for resisting and injuring a public official and reported for illegal possession of an altered weapon. The other two, Neapolitans aged 20 and 19, were identified: the youngest was also reported for using means to hinder recognition.
In the Posillipo neighborhood, instead, officers from the Police Station arrested two men aged 36 and 40, the latter already known to the police, accused of robbery. The two were stopped while fleeing after having attacked the owner of a croissant shop in via Manzoni and stolen the takings kept in a safe. The stolen goods were recovered and returned to the rightful owner.
Finally, in via Marina, the Falcons noticed a young man on a scooter who, at the sight of the uniforms, fled. The officers, despite the heavy traffic, managed to detect the license plate of the vehicle, which turned out to have been stolen a few minutes earlier from a couple in the area. The alleged perpetrator, a 17-year-old Neapolitan with a criminal record, was stopped in via Repubbliche Marinare while he was trying to hide on foot. He was arrested by the judicial police for aggravated robbery. The scooter was returned to its owners.
A night of celebration, therefore, but also of interventions and controls that saw the police engaged in containing episodes of illegality and violence.
