Shots fired during procession, a passerby injured: 23-year-old linked to the Camorra arrested. It is attempted murder
Naples – Even though he has no criminal record, investigators consider him close to the criminal group of boss Nicola Rullo 'o nfamone, a top man in the Contini clan.
The 23-year-old's criminal career ended yesterday Vincenzo Minichini with no criminal record from the Mercato district, was stopped with the arrest for double attempted murder aggravated by mafia methods, illegal carrying and possession of a firearm.
According to the investigations, in fact, it was he who opened fire on the crowd of the Procession of the Madonna dell'Arco on the evening of April 13, seriously injuring two people, including a 23-year-old unconnected with the facts, who lost an eye.
The facts date back, in fact, to the evening of April 13, Palm Sunday, between via Celano and via Tappia, in the Case Nuove area. A fight between women, which broke out in the crowd during the procession, started a chain of violence that culminated in a shooting in full Camorra style.
Minichini intervened to defend two relatives involved in the argument, one of whom was in conflict with Mauro Russo's wife, related to the young boss of Case Nuove, Emanuele Marigliano, known as “'o nano”.
The shots in the crowd
According to the investigators' reconstruction, Minichini returned armed aboard a Panda and fired at least four gunshots at chest height. One hit Russo, another seriously injured a 23-year-old who was attending the procession with his family. The boy, completely unconnected to the fight, lost the use of an eye. A pregnant woman also suffered a miscarriage as a result of the chaos and fear.
Omertà and social consensus
Despite the climate of silence that immediately surrounded the episode, the police were able to reconstruct what happened thanks to wiretaps and partial testimonies collected in the hospital. Some recorded conversations and comments published on TikTok by one of the women involved were also decisive. In a video, the woman downplayed the consequences of the shooting: “What do I care… he didn’t mean to hit that guy… it must have been someone else.” More concerned about the “likes” than the victims.
The investigation and the arrest
The investigation is coordinated by the Anti-Mafia District Directorate of Naples, with the deputy prosecutor Sergio Amato. The arrest of Minichini – known as “'o Chicco” – was carried out by the men of the Flying Squad, directed by the first director Giovanni Leuci and the vice commissioner Luigi Vissicchio. Also fundamental are the surveillance camera footage and the wiretaps collected in the days following the hospitalization of the injured.
Minichini, known for his ties with the son of Roberto Murano, a figure close to the Contini dell'Arenaccia, is now accused of double attempted murder with mafia aggravation and illegal possession of a firearm. The weapon used has not yet been found.
