A 59-year-old Neapolitan, with a criminal record, was arrested late yesterday evening by the State Police in Bagnoli for aggravated theft.
The officers of the Bagnoli Police Station, during a patrol service, intervened in via Nuova Bagnoli following a report received by the Operations Room, which indicated a man intent on stealing a parked car.
Arriving on the scene, the police officers intercepted the reported vehicle, with the suspect on board. At the sight of the officers, the man attempted to escape by accelerating towards via Diocleziano, but was quickly caught and stopped.
The investigation revealed that the door latch and ignition lock of the car had been tampered with. The 59-year-old was arrested, while the car was returned to its rightful owner.
The operation, conducted promptly by the State Police, underlines the commitment in the fight against predatory crimes in the Neapolitan territory.
