An absolute first for Naples
Linder's work arrives for the first time in the city of Naples with a project realized in collaboration with Archivorum and with the support of the Amici del Madre. The courtyard of the museum will be transformed into a live stage on June 5 (19.30:22.30–6:7 p.m., free admission until all seats are taken) and on June 16 and 19 (XNUMX–XNUMX p.m.).
Free admission for everyone on June 6th
To celebrate the birthday, the museum will be open to the public for free on Thursday, June 6. A special opportunity to visit the current exhibitions and participate in a day dedicated to community engagement.
President Tecce: “An increasingly international museum”
“The twentieth anniversary of the Madre museum is a symbolic and concrete moment – declares Angela Tecce, president of the Donnaregina Foundation – because it celebrates our historical memory and, at the same time, opens new spaces for dialogue and participation. Linder's performance, which merges with the architecture of the museum itself, demonstrates how the Madre continues to be an international cultural reference point rooted in the city”.
Eva Fabbris: “We want to emotionally involve the audience”
The museum's director, Eva Fabbris, emphasizes the importance of starting the celebrations with a performance: “Performance art invites the audience to be part of the experience. The choice of Adam Linder and the curation of Gigiotto Del Vecchio reflect our desire to open up to innovative and engaging languages”.
A hand-to-hand fight with architecture
“Rub Up on Mother”, explains Del Vecchio, it is a Choreographic Service, part of the format created by Linder for art spaces. In this version, the performers move in direct relation with the architecture, facing the walls of the museum, until they merge with them. “It is a gesture of fusion – explains the curator – which transforms bodies into living works”.
Linder: A practice that unites dance, art and reflection
Born in Sydney in 1983, Adam Linder has presented his works in the most prestigious international spaces, from MoMA in New York to Kunsthalle Basel. His performances combine dance, objects, texts and sound, proposing a reflection on identity, technique and desire.
A day between books, art and memory
On Thursday, June 5, at 17.30:XNUMX p.m., the museum will host the presentation of the three catalogs that document the programming of the previous director Kathryn Weir: Utopia dystopia, Rethinking nature, and Beauty and terror. Speakers will include Marie Laure Bernadac, Tiziana Terranova, Alessandro Gallicchio, Sonia D'Alto, Yasmin Smith, Massimo Fagnano, as well as Angela Tecce, Eva Fabbris, and Weir herself. Performances by Le Nemesiache and Justin Randolph Thompson will follow.
Extended exhibitions and new experiences
June 6 will also be an opportunity to visit the current exhibitions for free, including *Gli Anni – curated by Eva Fabbris and extended until June 30 – and Euforia Tomaso Binga, curated by Fabbris with Daria Khan, on display until July 21.
A Saturday for families and enthusiasts
