After checks conducted on July 8 and yesterday morning, three people – the coordinator of the works and representatives of two companies involved – were reported for violations of workplace safety regulations.
At the end of the initial inspection, the military had highlighted "numerous irregularities" detrimental to worker safety, leading to a temporary closure of the construction site pending local health authority (ASL) regulations.
Workers still at work despite the bans
However, during the subsequent investigation, the workers were filmed still working on the scaffolding, despite the restrictions still in place. The entire area was then seized.
The three accused will have to answer for failure to carry out checks and coordination, as required by the safety plan, and for multiple violations relating to the regulations on safety in the workplace.
The action is part of the targeted checks on PNRR construction sites, to ensure compliance with regulations governing the health and safety of workers.
In the past, the area had already been brought to the attention of the police (February 2025) due to suspected irregularities in the housing under construction.
The municipality is now under investigation by the competent authorities, and further liability may emerge, including that of the contractor.
Meanwhile, the investigative activity of the police to verify whether the omission could extend to other phases of the project, with repercussions on the overall regularity of the works financed with public resources.
