Caivano – A list of names and surnames, passed down from one clan to another, as if it were a criminal inheritance.
This is what the Carabinieri of the Investigative Unit of Castello di Cisterna have turned their attention to, discovering a well-established extortion system, active in Caivano and to the detriment of numerous local entrepreneurs.
The investigations, coordinated by District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Naples, led to the arrest of two top figures of the Camorra group: Giovanni Barra, 39, known as “Giovanni 'o scucciato”, and Roberto Alfio Maugeri, 33. Both are accused of mafia association and aggravated extortion.
The two new bosses had taken the place of the boss Antonio Angelino, alias “Tibiuccio”
According to investigators, Barra and Maugeri assumed leadership of the clan during the time of the boss Antonio Angelino, alias “Tibiuccio”, being on the run, becoming the main contacts for the management of criminal activities in the area.
Right in that period, the two would have continued to collect the protection money from the entrepreneurs already "registered" in a list, considered a real instrument of continuity for the extortion, regardless of who was leading the gang.
The investigation revealed several episodes of extortion to the detriment of economic activities in the area, in a context of systematic mafia pressure on the local business fabric. The precautionary measures were carried out in the last few hours.
