UAn ordinary roadblock turned into a major operation for the Carabinieri of Casalnuovo di Napoli.
During a traffic check yesterday evening, the local police stopped a car carrying two Libyan citizens, aged 42 and 39 respectively, legally residing in Italy.
Despite the documents being in order, the nervous attitude of the two men aroused the suspicions of the military, who decided to proceed with a search of the vehicle. No trace of weapons or narcotics was found, but in the trunk of the car a large bag containing a sum of money was found. cash equal to 374.695 euros, of which eight banknotes were found to be counterfeit.

When asked for explanations, the two were unable to justify the origin of the money. The search continued at their home, where another 31 euros in cash and two banknote counting devices were found.
The two men were reported at liberty for fraudulent transfer of valuables and counterfeiting of money. The entire amount of money was seized. Investigations are continuing to clarify the origin of the money and verify any links to illegal activities.
