The news in brief
- Aurelio De Laurentiis appointed honorary citizen of Lacco Ameno for the successes of the Napoli and the connection with Ischia.
- The Mayor Pascale underlines the role of De Laurentiis as ambassador of the beauties of Ischia, contributing to its global promotion.
Lacco Ameno welcomes one of the most iconic figures in Italian football, Aurelio De Laurentiis, among its honorary citizens. The decision was made official during the last city council meeting, which paid tribute not only to the Napoli president for his sporting successes at the helm of the club, but also for his personal, emotional, and operational ties to the island of Ischia, and specifically to the municipality of Lacco Ameno.
In the last few years, De Laurentiis He made Ischia his buen retiro and summer headquarters, regularly staying at the Hotel della Regina Isabella—the historic hotel commissioned by producer Angelo Rizzoli—from which he often orchestrated transfer negotiations, private meetings, and strategies for the team's future. It was also a favorite location for symbolic moments: here, on May 24th, he celebrated his 76th birthday, the day after Napoli won their fourth Scudetto, in the presence of Antonio Conte, on an evening that effectively sealed the new alliance between president and coach.
For Mayor Giacomo Pascale, the honor is not only a tribute to the career of a man who brought Napoli to the pinnacle of Italian football, but also a recognition of those who, with their constant presence and media visibility, contribute to promoting Ischia and its excellence around the world. “De Laurentiis has become an ambassador of our scenic, cultural and thermal beauties – declared Pascale – and represents the passion of an entire people. Lacco Ameno is proud to welcome him as one of our own."
