Pozzuoli, street ambush in broad daylight: 38 man hit by a bullet

Pozzuoli – A 38-year-old man was injured this morning in a gunshot attack on Via Tiberio in Pozzuoli. Shortly after the incident, Carabinieri officers from the Operations Unit responded quickly to the emergency room at Pozzuoli Hospital, where the man was transported independently before emergency services arrived.

The dynamics, still to be reconstructed in detail, appear to be typical of a criminal execution: a motorcyclist, his face covered by a helmet, approached the victim and then fired at least one shot. The bullet struck the 38-year-old's left forearm, wounding him not seriously but significantly.

The man, who told officers he didn't recognize his attacker, was treated and released from hospital with a 15-day prognosis. This time will also be used by investigators to shed light on the incident.

The Carabinieri's investigation is now focused on analyzing surveillance video from the area and hearing from potential witnesses. The leading hypothesis remains a settling of scores, a "message" sent by a rival clan. The "warning" theory—the warning bullet—is currently the most likely.

The hunt for the man (or men) aboard the motorcycle has already begun. Pozzuoli is no stranger to incidents like this, and the alarm among the population is already palpable.
