Napoli, Gilmour: "We squandered so many scoring opportunities, we lacked grit. De Gea was the best player on the pitch."

"We had plenty of chances today. De Gea was one of the best players on the pitch, and we had plenty of chances towards the end." Billy Gilmour analyzed Napoli's 1-1 draw against Fiorentina at the Franchi stadium, highlighting the chances the Azzurri created and the difficulty they faced in converting them into goals.

The Scottish midfielder also blamed the weather conditions in which the match was played. "It's difficult to play at a high tempo in these temperatures. It's crazy to play in such conditions in this early part of the season. This clearly affected our performance."

The main issue, however, remains the lack of consistency in front of goal. "We have a lot to improve on in terms of our aggressiveness in front of goal; we create a lot but finish poorly. As they say, in Naples we lack guts," Gilmour added.

The player then responded to his failure to be called up to the Scottish national team. "Yes, there's always a time when you don't get called up, but you're getting older, so it's only right that Mancini makes his decisions and we start a new chapter."

Gilmour then recounted the celebration after the goal that temporarily put Napoli ahead. "We celebrated with the bench. We tried it yesterday, so we're happy it worked, but we're disappointed with the final result."

Despite the draw, the midfielder also identifies a positive aspect of the team's performance: "The positive thing is that we're all scoring."
