Anacapri, double rescue in 24 hours: Carabinieri recover two lost hikers

This is what happened yesterday in Anacapri, where the Carabinieri performed two separate and spectacular mountain rescues, rescuing thirty-one-year-old hikers trapped on the island's rugged trails.

The first rescue at noon

It all began around noon, when the 12 emergency operations center in Naples received a distress call. A 112-year-old hiker from the province of Caltanissetta had gotten lost while descending Mount Solaro, the highest peak on the island of Capri.

The man, who was hiking alone, lost his bearings and ended up in a particularly steep and inaccessible area, unable to find a way back.

Immediately alerted, the Carabinieri from the Anacapri station set out to search for him. By coordinating with the call and identifying the likely location of his disappearance, the officers were able to reach him.

The hiker , visibly shaken but fortunately unharmed, was assisted and helped up the dangerous slope. First aid was administered on site to assess his condition.

The second recovery at sunset

A few hours later, as darkness began to envelop the island, the emergency number 112 rang again. Another man, also 31, originally from the province of Matera, called in desperation: he had become lost in the Via Castagnelle area, a populated area with several steep and wooded sections, in the municipality of Anacapri.

The situation was even more critical: the man's phone, his only link to rescuers, was running low. This time, the Carabinieri of the Capri Company took over the operation.

Maintaining constant telephone contact, managing to obtain all possible information before the line went dead, the military limited the search area and started tracking him down.

The race against time ended successfully shortly thereafter: the hiker was found safe and sound, weakened by fear and experience but in good health.

The balance of a lucky day

Two identical cases, just hours apart, with a curious parallel: both rescues involved men of the same age. Two happy endings that highlight the importance of immediately contacting emergency numbers and the effectiveness of the Carabinieri's coordination efforts, ready to intervene even in the most challenging areas to ensure the safety of residents and tourists.
