Naples – The Naples Police Headquarters' extraordinary operations to combat drug trafficking continue unabated. This evening, officers made another arrest in the Maddalena neighborhood, detaining a 27-year-old Gambian man with an illegal immigration status and already known to law enforcement.

The man was arrested for illegal possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing, resisting a public official, and aggravated damage to public property.

The dynamics of the operation

The operation began in the late afternoon, when officers from the Vicaria-Mercato Police Station, carrying out territorial control, were passing through Vico Duchesca. They noticed a wary man who, in exchange for a banknote, gave something to another individual, who then quickly walked away.

Officers intervened immediately to stop the sale. However, the 27-year-old resisted, resulting in a scuffle with the police before being finally subdued.

The kidnapping and the accusations

The search resulted in the suspect being found with four bags of marijuana, seven packages of hashish, and €160 in cash, divided into bills of various denominations, believed to be the proceeds of drug dealing. During the tense arrest, the man also damaged a flashlight provided to officers.

At the end of the operation, the 27-year-old was arrested. This investigation is part of the intensified patrols by the Naples Police Headquarters in the city's most sensitive areas, with a particular focus on combating drug trafficking.
