Avellino: Car stolen and escape in Lacedonia, two men arrested after chase

They attempted to flee after being intercepted in a stolen car, but were tracked down and arrested after several hours of searching. The incident occurred in the Lacedonia area, in the province of Avellino, during a territorial economic control operation.

Two Moroccan citizens, both without documents, were arrested by officers from the Sant'Angelo dei Lombardi station while traveling in a vehicle that was later found to be stolen.

Upon seeing the patrol, the driver abruptly stopped his vehicle, abandoning it on the road along with his passenger. This sudden maneuver put the safety of other motorists at risk. The two then fled on foot, temporarily disappearing.

After securing the car, the finance police immediately began a search, which continued for several hours until they located the fugitives. Once located, they were stopped and arrested.

The two will now face charges of theft, resisting a public official, receiving stolen goods, and the new crime of fleeing the scene of a crime under the Highway Code. The vehicle was seized, while the arrested individuals were handed over to the judicial authorities for validation of the order.
