Campania celebrates 50 years of free radio: the regional festival is born.

On July 28, Campania will celebrate the half-century since the ruling that liberalized broadcasting in Italy, with a day dedicated to free radio at the Regional Council of Naples.

Naples - Campania is preparing to celebrate a historic milestone for free radio: the fiftieth anniversary of the Constitutional Court ruling of July 28, 1976, which paved the way for free radio broadcasting in Italy.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, July 28, the Giancarlo Siani Hall of the Campania Regional Council, at the Centro Direzionale in Naples, will host the first edition of "Campania On Air – Campania Free Radio Day," an event organized by the AdAstra Foundation with the patronage of the Regional Council.

The initiative is part of the process initiated by the Campania Region with Regional Law No. 12 of August 10, 2022, which established July 28 as a symbolic date to celebrate the historical, cultural, and social value of free radio. The day will open at 10:30 a.m. with institutional greetings from the President of the Regional Council, Massimiliano Manfredi, and will feature the participation of political figures and academics, including Regional Councilor Franco Picarone, President of the Naples City Council Vincenza Amato, and representatives of Campania universities.

The highlight of the event will be "The Voices of Campania," during which representatives of regional radio stations will share their stories, their ties to the region, and the future prospects of local radio. Furthermore, the project for the Festival of Free Radios of Campania, promoted by the AdAstra Foundation and intended to become an annual event starting in 2027, will be presented.

The day will conclude with the presentation of the Free Radio Awards, honors in various categories, including the Radio Memory Award, the Radio Futura Award, and the Lifetime Achievement Award. The event aims not only to pay homage to the past, but also to revitalize the cultural, social, and informational role of Campania radio stations, fostering the creation of a permanent network among regional broadcasters.

The initiative enjoys the support of the Campania Regional Council, the Campania Corecom, the Naples City Council, and major universities in the region, underscoring the strategic importance of local radio for the Campania community.
