Naples – Following the earthquake that struck the Phlegraean Fields on July 31, the Naples Association of Chartered Accountants and Accounting Experts has launched an urgent appeal to the competent authorities for the immediate suspension of tax and social security payment deadlines. Matteo De Lise, president of the Naples Association of Chartered Accountants and Accounting Experts, emphasized that the emergency situation makes it impossible for citizens, businesses, and professionals to meet upcoming deadlines, particularly that of August 20.

Property occupancy checks, mobility restrictions, and operational difficulties for professional firms are insurmountable obstacles during this critical phase. For this reason, the Order has sent a formal request to the Minister of Economy Giancarlo Giorgetti, Deputy Minister Maurizio Leo, the heads of the Revenue Agency and INPS, as well as local authorities, including the Prefect of Naples and the mayor of the capital and the Metropolitan City.

The ODCEC (Italian Confederation of Tax Authorities) proposes a temporary suspension of tax collection procedures and activities, extending deadlines without penalties or interest, a measure already adopted in the past during other national emergencies. The goal is to provide immediate relief to those facing a particularly difficult period, preventing the tax burden from adding to the already severe difficulties caused by the earthquake.
