Cleanup and restoration work has begun in the underpasses and parking lots of the Naples Business District. The work, coordinated by the City Council with the support of various agencies, marks an important step forward but does not address the underlying problem, as politicians emphasize.

Naples: Reclamation of the Business District begins, but ongoing interventions are needed to prevent further deterioration.
Cleanup and remediation operations have begun in the areas beneath the Naples Business District , including the underpasses and parking lots, areas long marked by decay and abandonment. The project is the result of collaboration between the permanent municipal committee, Asia, the National Association of Magistrates, Social Services, and the local police, in synergy with the Ge.Se.Ce.Di consortium.
The president of the IV Municipality, Maria Caniglia, documented with images the work underway, aimed at improving the livability and safety of a strategic area of the city.
Despite the positive reception of the interventions, Francesco Emilio Borrelli, MP for the Green and Left Alliance, emphasizes that the Centro Direzionale must address the consequences of years of neglect. Borrelli denounces how, especially at night, the area transforms into a "ghost town" worthy of a horror film, urging that not only extraordinary interventions but also daily, structural management be ensured.
Municipality IV Councilor Giampiero Perrella shares this critical view, emphasizing the area's potential. If properly developed, it could become a hub for investment and employment. Without a long-term project and ongoing maintenance, however, it risks becoming a breeding ground for decay, vandalism, and insecurity.
The call is clear: Naples cannot limit itself to enhancing only its most famous areas like the waterfront, but must develop a coherent and responsible vision to regenerate the Centro Direzionale and prevent it from falling into oblivion.
