C asavatore – When the Carabinieri of the Naples Provincial Command knocked on his door, they didn't find him. Vincenzo Pagano , sixty-two, the man better known in the back alleys of the hinterland under the sinister alias 'Sce Sce,' has chosen the path of the underground.

The boss who spat in the face of a businessman in the town square less than two months ago has become a ghost, a fugitive who moves along the invisible underground routes of the Camorra in the Northern Area.

The precautionary order ordering his detention for attempted extortion, aggravated by Article 416-bis.1, is but the latest chapter in a complex criminal biography, filled with blood and military strategies, rooted in the darkest era of the Campanian criminal underworld.

The pedigree of 'Sce Sce' in the records of the breakaway Camorra

But who is Vincenzo Pagano really? The answer lies not only in the images from the municipal security cameras that show him attacking the two businessmen brothers to steal their Audi RS3. His true identity is recorded in the interrogation reports of three elite justice collaborators: Salvatore Roselli, Alessandro De Cicco, and Errico D'Ambrosio.

Fragments of truth that outline a complex figure: a man who for years tried to remain in the shadows, taking his pay without exposing himself, but ready to use strong measures when the balance of the "family" was touched.

Salvatore Roselli's statements: "He took a monthly salary and didn't want any problems."

The most intimate and political portrait of 'Sce Sce' is provided by Salvatore Roselli. In the minutes of May 15, 2023, the informer outlines Pagano's position within the Scissionisti organization:

“Among the free men there is also Vincenzo Pagano, known as sce sce, even if he does nothing for the clan, he gets a month's wages”.
A few months earlier, on February 23, 2023, Roselli had told DDA magistrates a sensational behind-the-scenes story about the clan's reorganization following the arrest of boss Domenico Antonio Amato. During an emergency summit in Casavatore, Pagano's name was put forward for leadership, precisely because of his blood relationship:

We talked about reorganizing the clan, speculating that Vincenzo Pagano could become the leader, since he carried the family name anyway… After just a week, Vincenzo backed out. In truth, I didn't really believe this story about the letter sent to Bisio (Claudio Cristiano) from 41 bis. He mentioned it to us, but I never saw it.

Pagano, in short, refused to expose the front line. A strategy confirmed by Roselli on April 5, 2023: "Vincenzo Pagano, known as Sce Sce, only took the monthly salary and didn't want to have any problems."
In the same report, Roselli also names the other accomplice in the 2026 extortion, Elpidio Patricelli,

That slap to his niece Debora to defend the clan

Despite his vaunted desire to avoid "trouble," Vincenzo Pagano knew how to wield mafia authority within the Scissionisti clan's domestic sphere. The records reveal a telling episode that occurred after the arrest of matriarch Rosaria Pagano. Her daughter, Debora Amato, wanted to integrate her new partner (a non-criminal) into the clan's dynamics.

Salvatore Roselli, on May 11, 2023, reports what he learned from another affiliate, Giuseppe Cipressa:
“As far as I know, the new partner was outside the clan, although I remember that, after Rosaria Pagano's arrest, Amato Debora wanted to bring him into the clan, but Vincenzo Pagano, known as sce sce, intervened, opposed him and even slapped his niece.” A corrective slap, identical in force to the one delivered three years later, in a public square, to one of the two entrepreneur brothers.

The Christmas summit and the departure from Mugnano

That 'Sce Sce' was present at all the important discussions, from the very beginning of the split from the Di Lauros, is proven by historical records. Roselli places him among the participants in the historic meeting organized by Cesare Pagano and Giuseppe Ferone in June 2023 to organize the military counteroffensive.

Years later, his presence is still sought in times of deep crisis. In his statement dated February 12, 2026, collaborator with justice Alessandro De Cicco recounts the purge of his brother Gennaro, expelled from Mugnano and Melito after the wounding of Mafia boss Giuseppe Cipressa "Peppaccio":

“I then learned of a meeting between Elio Amato, Vincenzo Pagano (a.k.a. sce sce), my brother Gennaro De Cicco, Antonio Bastone, and the Caiazza brothers, Antonio and Lino. During the meeting, Bastone and the Caiazzas forced my brother to leave Mugnano and Melito. The meeting took place before Christmas 2025… They sent him away, accusing him of shooting Peppaccio.”

Even the repentant Errico D'Ambrosio (minutes dated July 25, 2024) recalls how the clan's white-collar mafia boss, Antonio Pompilio, would secretly meet with Vincenzo Pagano just as he did with Debora Amato to discuss the DIA investigations that threatened to overwhelm the criminal faction.

The End of the Retreat: The 2026 Extortion and the Fugitive Period

The investigation by investigating judge Gabriella Logozzo shows that in 2026, the strategy of "taking a salary without doing anything" came to an end. Perhaps driven by the power vacuum, Vincenzo Pagano took to the streets of Casavatore to raise his voice. He did so by supporting Elpidio Patricelli and speaking on the phone with Lino Caiazza, with whom he had already shared the purge summits at Christmas 2025.

The assault on the two brothers over the delivery of the Audi RS3 was his fatal mistake. The photographs acquired by the Carabinieri and the detailed reports of the victims nailed him. Today, the man who in the reports of the informants appeared almost like a Camorra bureaucrat, a retired extortionist longing for peace, is a scarlet primrose on the run, hunted by law enforcement throughout the Northern Area.
