Castel Volturno, anti-poaching raid: 30 meters of illegal nets seized

Castel Volturno – The fight against fish poaching along the Domitian coast continues unabated. Yesterday morning, officers from the Caserta Provincial Police, under the direction of Colonel Biagio Chiariello, completed a targeted operation with the operational support of the "Domizia" and "Fly Liternum" associations. They seized over thirty meters of illegal fishing nets abandoned at sea, estimated to be worth approximately four thousand euros.

The gear—actual "killer nets"—poses a lethal threat to the marine ecosystem, particularly to loggerhead sea turtles, which become trapped and die. The entire operation was documented and forwarded to the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, which validated the seizure and charged the suspect with the crime of abandoning waste at sea.

"The Domitian coast continues to be the site of constant recoveries of illegal gear left by poachers," the provincial command announced. "Operations will continue relentlessly to protect the sea and its habitat."
