Matteo Perego from Cremnago visits Pianura: the fight against the mafia goes through the State.
NAPLES – A strong signal came today from the Pianura neighborhood of Naples, where Undersecretary of Defense Matteo Perego di Cremnago made an official visit accompanied by Father Antonio Coluccia.
The meeting with neighborhood youth and the visit to the Carabinieri station underscored the crucial role of the state in fighting local criminal organizations. In a message posted on social media, Perego stated that "legality is born from small, everyday choices, from the courage of those who don't look the other way, and from the commitment of a community that chooses, every day, to stand on the side of good and justice."
The Undersecretary reiterated that where the State makes its voice heard, the Mafia is destined to retreat, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between institutions and citizens to build a safer and more just social fabric. This visit is particularly significant in a historical context marked by social and economic hardship, also recalling the closure of the Bagnoli steel plant in 1993, an event that profoundly affected the local situation.
Perego's presence in Pianura represents a concrete commitment to strengthening legality and combating organized crime through active community participation and law enforcement.
