Ahead of Napoli's centenary, Ruud Krol, a legendary former defender of the Neapolitan team, gave an interview to Radio Napoli Centrale in which he expressed great enthusiasm for the new season and the project led by Massimiliano Allegri.

Krol, who boasts a successful career with Ajax and a special bond with Napoli, highlighted how Beukema can finally express himself at his best in his natural role as a central defender in Allegri's back four, unlike the three-man formation used by Antonio Conte.

“Beukema doesn’t have the same quality as Di Lorenzo, but he feels better in a back four, where he can play alongside Rrahmani,” explained Krol.

The former champion also emphasized that Allegri, despite some mistakes last season with AC Milan, is a very successful coach and his work with Napoli will be different from that of Conte, especially considering the numerous injuries that affected the team's performance last season, which nevertheless finished in second place.

Regarding the potential inclusion of players like Noa Lang, Krol emphasized that everything depends on the coach's trust, urging the Dutch talent to prove his worth on the pitch. When asked about De Bruyne, Krol recalled the unusual injury he suffered during a penalty and confirmed the importance of the Belgian and Lukaku to Allegri's Napoli.

Finally, Krol celebrated the club's 100th anniversary, emphasizing the importance of this anniversary and the possibility that Napoli could win their fifth Scudetto in this special season. "Perhaps my number 5 shirt should be retired," the former defender proudly concluded.
